G-Series – Side Channel Blowers Leading in ExcellenceSome technologies are so good that it is hard to improve them. Side channel blowers from Elmo Rietschle are such an example. The eco-friendly dry running rotary vane pumps are used for vacuum, pressure and combined pressure and vacuum applications. The time-tested oil lubricated rotary vane machines are typically used for generating vacuum.

R-Series – Rotary Lobe Blowers: rugged and economicalThese compact rotary lobe blowers belong to the group of dry running positive displacement pumps. This means that there is no need for oil or grease in the compression chamber. Only gear box and bearings, which are separated from the pumping chamber, are oil lubricated. Two non contacting triple lobed rotary lobe rotors rotate against each other in the compression room.

The triple lobed rotors avoid pulsation problems. The blowers are customized to cater for the varying demands of our customers’ applications.

C-Series – Innovative Claw TechnologyThe C-Series claw pumps and compressors of Elmo Rietschle generate contact-free vacuum or compressed air efficiently and economically. This is possible because of the principle of internal compression. The gas is pre-compressed within the compressing chamber and is then discharged.

This leads to an evident energy saving compared to rotary lobe blower designs without internal compression.

S- Series – The Screw: dry running and low maintenance vacuum pumpThe S-VSI screw vacuum pump (sizes 100 and 300) represents modern, state-of-the-art dry running technology that excels when it comes to small carbon footprint and low life cycle costs. It is used in a variety of industrial applications such as drying and packaging.

Customer-specific adaptation of air demand in the printing and paper industry is best achieved by using the modular Elmo Rietschle Air-Center. They assure a higher operating safety through extremely low noise levels and lower temperature. The air consumption can be adapted to individual print jobs, which means a considerable reduction in set-up costs and energy consumption.

In the production of bricks, roofing tiles, porcelain and technical ceramics, an important mark of quality is a product free of air pockets. When fired, ceramics containing such pockets can be destroyed in the kiln and, in extreme cases, can even cause the destruction of the entire batch. In bricks, this quality defect usually takes years to appear; during the winter, water penetrates the surface pores and causes them to burst.

Air removal from clay
After brick clay is loaded into the extruder, a vacuum serves to remove the air, thus preventing the formation of air pockets and the subsequent breakage of bricks. Similar to brick clay, ceramic clay is first placed in a mixer and pressurized with water or water vapour to form a homogeneous mixture. It is then transferred to an extruder where it is pressed into moulds under high pressure. The material is then extruded to the proper length, dried and fired.

Large volumes of compressed air and vacuum are required in the manufacturing process of hollow glassware. High quality and reliability of all units and components is of prime importance, because equipment failure during production invariably means extremely high costs. For continuous 24-hour operation, rotary vane compressors and vacuum pumps offer the best solution.

Compressed air is used to form the blanks in the production machines. A compressed air system is needed to control the various shaping devices and the general air supply of the factory.
Rotary vane vacuum pumps are used to evacuate the glass moulds. This ensures high product quality and increasing the number of pieces per hour poses no problem.

For higher volumes vacuum pump stands are used. These two-stage systems consist of a rotary lobe and rotary vane vacuum pump and are used in the production of electric light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.

Side Channel Blowers operate by sucking in air/gas through the inlet channel, which then enters the machine. The rotation of the impellers gives momentum to the air/gas in the direction of rotation. Centrifugal force in the impeller blades accelerate the air/gas outwards, increasing its pressure. Kinetic energy is displaced with every rotation of the impellers. The Pump narrows at the rotor, sweeping air/gas off the impeller blades and expelling it through the outlet silencer where it exits the blower.

The Vacuum pump which is best for you is dependent on your application and requirements. There are a large variety of pumps available which can be used for Vacuum, including but not limited to; Side Channel Blowers, Claw Pumps, Rotary Vanes etc.
