Compressed Air Filters

Compressed Air Filters are an essential part of an efficient compressed air system. By removing impurities from your compressed air, you will not only prevent the contamination of your products, you will also protect the performance of your equipment, keeping it operating efficiently. Inadequate or incorrect filtration can negatively impact performance and damage end-use equipment, increasing the likelihood of blockages and the need for repairs which always means expensive downtime.

How Compressed Air Filters Improve Production

In any compressed air system, impurities are inevitable. Dust, dirt, water, oil contaminants and solid particles can reduce air quality, significantly affect system efficiency and compromise your products. Without the right air filter, it becomes more likely that the contaminants will affect the compression process and production quality, especially in industries that have stringent air quality standards. Contamination will also result in huge inconvenience, with the need for expensive downtime in order to clean and maintain your air compressors, with the greater chance of repairs needed to machinery. All of which costs time and money.

Removing contaminants through the use of good quality air filters will ensure your products comply with rigorous quality control standards at the same time as protecting your equipment from damage, leading to smoother operation, prolonging its operational life and resulting in less costly downtime.

Removing impurities with air filters enables smoother operation, helping to minimise energy waste and, as a consequence, lowering operating costs.

Types of Compressed Air Filters

There are different types of filters that deal with different types of contaminants such as dry dust, wet dust, oil aerosols and vapours, and water droplets.

If you are unsure about which filter is best for your compressors, call us on 01992 932067 to discuss your requirements with our team of experts.

Coalescing filters The five grades of filter elements remove oil and moisture particles as small as 0.1 microns. They are suitable for almost any application and work with a range of pressures, gases and temperatures.

Particulate filters Particulate filters allow for the continuous removal of tiny particles (down to 0.1 micron), as well as oil and moisture

Alpha compressed air duplex filters – This two-stage filter combines 0.01 micron and activated carbon elements, and is ideal for situations where air purity is a necessity, such as pharmaceuticals and food manufacturing.

High pressure filters – These work with a wide range of high pressure applications and are available in alloy and stainless steel, with pressure ratings of 50 bar (725 psig), 100 barg (1450 psig) and 350 barg (5000 psig).

Oxygen filters – Oxygen filters allow you to produce pure compressed air, with liquid, vapour and contaminates filtered out, down 0.01 micron particles. Oxygen filters are suitable for many industries including food, drink, aquaculture, steel manufacturing, glass and ceramics, and wastewater treatment. Medical sterile filters make them suitable for healthcare situations.

Silicone-free filters – In some applications, silicone-free air is essential, usually for paint spraying and electronics manufacturing. The filters prevent particulates, oil vapour and moisture getting into compressed air systems, preventing the formation of blisters, craters and loss of adhesion that can occur in industrial paint spraying.

Benefits of Compressed Air Filters

High quality, uncontaminated compressed air is vital for many industries, especially food and beverages, medical and pharmaceuticals. Specialist air compressor filters collect the particulates, moisture and oil, preventing them from entering the compressed air and contaminating the products.

By preventing contaminants entering the air compressor, air filters will help keep a steady air flow, as well as reduce the frequency of maintenance and repairs, which means a reduction in expensive downtime, as well as prolonging the life of your equipment and increasing your ROI.
